Falling for Fall All Over Again

Ah, Fall is here!
We finally arrive at the autumn equinox, known in earth-based traditions as Mabon in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s one of only two days in the year when day and night equally share the sky.
This is a time of transition, so before I fully dive in and immerse myself in this season, I want to pause and look back to the sun-drenched season we’re leaving behind. I want to give thanks for the beautiful summer I spent with my family, sharing long days out and about in the sunshine.
🍂 The Changing Landscape
And now I’m very much looking forward to getting cozy with fall.
You can feel the change in the season when we’re greeted by crisp air in the morning. Leaves are beginning to change, transforming green canopies into a mix of rich amber, gold, and crimson. Now that my son is back to school, I look forward to seeing a particular tree during our drive that turns a beautiful shade of deep red.
It’s a small thing, but I find myself looking forward to seeing it every year.
🧥 Getting Cozy
There’s something so comforting about getting out my cold-weather wardrobe. Soft-knit sweaters, coats, and knee-high boots. I love the way I can have fun and get creative when I mix and match them with different shawls and hats.
Fall gives me permission to layer, bundle up, and settle into that cozy feeling I’ve been missing during the warmer months.
🍎 Fall Outings
Our fall calendar quickly fills up with cherished traditions: heading out for fresh apple picking, wandering through local markets to indulge in warm cider and baked treats, and soaking in the bustling energy of community fall fairs.

We love to visit as many as we can, soaking in the sights and scents while spending the day exploring together.
There’s something about being out among all those people enjoying the season that makes fall feel especially alive.
🥧 Fall Flavors
Fall has its own flavor, doesn’t it?
The crisp sweetness of apple cider, warm apple pie fresh from the oven, cinnamon sprinkled into everything, and the arrival of pumpkin spice season. I love how food seems to become a little more comforting as the weather cools.
There’s something about a warm bowl of chili after a chilly day 😉, or a hearty squash soup that feels like a hug in a bowl — especially when I’m enjoying it in my Witch’s Brew soup mug.
Fall foods make me want to slow down, get cozy, and savor the season.

🦃 Gathering in Gratitude
Then comes Thanksgiving — one of those little reminders to pause and appreciate what we have.
I love the feeling of gathering around the table with family, sharing a meal, talking, laughing, and enjoying the simple comfort of being together. There’s something especially fitting about celebrating gratitude during the season of harvest.
It makes me think about all the things I’ve gathered throughout the year that can’t be put on a plate: memories, experiences, lessons, moments of joy, and time spent with the people I love.
Fall invites us to notice those things. To take stock. To appreciate what has grown, what has nourished us, and what we’re grateful to carry forward.
🎃 Spooky Season
And then there’s Halloween — my favorite time to embrace all things spooky.
Give me pumpkin trails lit up against the night sky, Halloween light shows, haunted attractions, creepy decorations, and anything that makes me wonder what might be lurking around the corner.

I love the playful side of Halloween — the costumes, the pumpkins, the atmosphere, and the thrill of being just a tiny bit scared.
There’s something enchanting about the way the world changes around this time of year. The evenings arrive earlier, the shadows grow longer, the veil becomes thinner—an invitation to embrace mystery, magic, and the unseen. Maybe it’s the way the world slows down, grows quieter, and asks us to listen just a little more closely.
And yet, somehow, fall also makes me feel incredibly alive.
And honestly, I love it.
Just thinking about all the fall adventures ahead makes me giddy with excitement.
🍂 What Fall Means to Me
Fall is about transition, release, gratitude, and preparing to turn inward.
Equinox energy is about harvest — not just from the earth, but within our own lives. It’s a chance to gather what served us well this year, set down what we no longer need to carry, and create a warm haven for the colder months ahead.
Whether you celebrate by baking something with cinnamon, walking through the fallen leaves, or simply sitting in the evening stillness with a blanket and warm mug in your hands, allow yourself to welcome the shift.
Welcome the season. Notice what it is bringing. Give thanks for what has grown.
And as the leaves begin to fall, consider what you’re ready to let go of, too.
